Gordon Lightfoot, Canada’s sensational folk and pop artist is bringing his signature sounds to the Saban Theater!
Gordon Meredith Lightfoot Jr. was born in 1938 in Orillia (Ontario) and is a singer and songwriter. His musical style can be best described as a blend of folk, folk rock (a style that arose in the United States and the United Kingdom around the mid 1960s, pioneered by the Los Angeles band the Byrds, who began playing traditional folk music and songs by Bob Dylan with rock instrumentation, in a style heavily influenced by the Beatles and other British bands), country, and pop. He’s widely regarded as one of the pioneers of the folk pop sound of the 1960s and 1970s and he’s been labeled as Canada's greatest songwriter. He’s written songs for many A list artists such as Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams Jr., The Kingston Trio, Marty Robbins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Judy Collins, Barbra Streisand, Johnny Mathis, Herb Alpert, Harry Belafonte, Scott Walker, Sarah McLachlan, Eric Clapton, John Mellencamp, Jack Jones, Bobby Vee, Roger Whittaker, Peter, Paul and Mary, Glen Campbell, The Irish Rovers, Nico, Olivia Newton-John, Paul Weller, and Ultra Naté.
