The Isley Brothers, Ohio’s sensational multi genre artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Saban Theater!
The Isley Brothers was formed in Cincinnati in 1954 by brothers Ronald, Rudolph, O'Kelly, and Vernon Isley. They were introduced to music at an early age by their parents (their father was a professional vocalist, and their mother, a church pianist) and they started performing as a gospel quarter. Over the years their musical style has spanned many other genres including doo wop (a style - developed in the 1940s from R&B, harmony vocal group, a cappella, negro spirituals, barbershop, gospel, ballad, blues, jump blues, and swing – featuring vocal group harmony, nonsense syllables, a simple beat, sometimes little or no instrumentation, and simple music and lyrics), rock and roll, rhythm and blues, soul, rock, funk, and quiet storm (a subgenre of contemporary R&B music - named after the eponymous 1976 single by Smokey Robinson - that’s characterized by understated, mellow dynamics, slow tempos, and relaxed rhythms). They’ve had a stellar career consisting of 31 studio albums, 4 live albums, 15 compilation albums, and 111 singles. The group currently consists of Ronald (lead vocals) and Ernie Isley (electric and acoustic guitars, bass, drums, and percussion). The Isley Brothers were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992 and into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2003.
