Timothy Bruce Schmit was born in Oakland (California) in 1947 and is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He began his musical journey by learning to the play the violin and it wasn't long before he was trying his hand at the trombone, ukulele, and guitar. In high school, he discovered he had a good voice for singing and he would folk songs with his friends. He said in an interview, "I had two friends who were into folk songs, the Kingston Trio and stuff like that. They had three guys and we all went over to that third guy’s house. So I’m there for the first time and I sang some harmony and that’s the last time they used that third guy." The band split up in 1980 and Timothy decided to pursue a solo career.
