Yngwie Malmsteen, Sweden’s sensational neo classical metal artist is bringing his signature sounds to the Saban Theater!
Yngwie Johan Malmsteen (birth name Lars Johan Yngve Lannerbäck) was born in Stockholm (Sweden) in 1963 and is a guitarist and record producer. He began his musical journey by forming his first band (Track on Earth) when he was just 10 years old. He started listening to classical music when he was a teenager (particularly the 19th century violinist composer Niccolò Paganini) and discovered his most important guitar influence, Ritchie Blackmore. He released his debut solo album (Rising Force) in 1984 and it won Guitar Player Magazine's award for Best Rock Album. His musical style can be best described as a blend of instrumental rock, hard rock (a loosely defined subgenre of rock music featuring heavy use of aggressive vocals, distorted electric guitars, bass guitar, drums, and often accompanied with pianos and keyboards), heavy metal (a subgenre of rock that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s and features a thick, massive sound, characterized by highly amplified distortion, extended guitar solos, emphatic beats, and overall loudness), and neoclassical metal (a subgenre of heavy metal that’sheavily influenced by classical music and usually features very technical playing, consisting of elements borrowed from both classical and speed metal music). He’s had a stellar career with 19 studio albums, 4 live albums, and 7 compilation albums.
